The Trump administration is considering imposing an additional tariff of 10 or 12.5 percent on products imported from 60 countries that Washington accuses of not restricting trade in goods produced using forced labor.
Medianews.az reports that this information was published by Musavat.com.
It is noted that the 10 percent tariffs will affect Canada, Ecuador, the European Union, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
Additionally, the 12.5 percent extra duties will affect 45 more countries that the US authorities are conducting relevant investigations on.
US Trade Representative Jameson Green stated that it is unacceptable that the US's most important trading partners have not addressed the issue of importing goods produced using forced labor. This creates a situation where American workers are forced to compete on an uneven playing field in the global market.
