Trump about NATO has made a new decision

The US President Donald Trump administration will inform NATO allies of its intention to reduce the military force reserves that Washington can allocate to assist allied countries in the event of a possible attack.

This was reported by the "Reuters" agency citing three informed sources.

According to the sources, a Pentagon representative is preparing to announce this decision at the NATO defense ministers' meeting to be held in Brussels on May 22. It is reported that the decision was formed after numerous statements by Donald Trump that European countries should allocate more funds for their own security.

According to the current model applied within NATO, member countries determine military reserve forces that can be used during conflicts or major crises. The number and composition of these forces are kept confidential. According to "Reuters," the US plans to significantly reduce that reserve.

Elbridge Colby, head of the Pentagon's policy office, stated that European allies will take the primary role in the use of conventional armed forces. The US will retain the ability to use its nuclear arsenal for the defense of NATO allies.//Bakues.az
