Chinese President Xi Jinping officially welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing with a formal ceremony. During the meeting, Xi indirectly sent a message to US policy, stating that "unilateral hegemonic tendencies have gotten out of control" in the international system.
Medianews.az reports that at the meeting held in the Great Hall of the People, the importance of further strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Russia was emphasized.
Xi characterized the relations between the two countries as a "stabilizing force" against the backdrop of global tension.
Putin’s reception in Beijing with a red carpet attracted attention. The visit occurred shortly after US President Donald Trump’s contacts related to China, sparking extensive discussions in the international community.
During the approximately 24-hour meeting, issues such as the Iran-Israel confrontation, the war in Ukraine, and energy security were also discussed. Xi stressed the importance of quickly resolving tensions in the Middle East, noting its impact on energy supply and global trade.
This was Vladimir Putin’s 25th official visit to China as the Russian leader. In recent years, the two countries deepened cooperation in trade, energy, and security, also marking the 25th anniversary of the "Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Agreement" signed in 2001.
Experts believe that after the war in Ukraine, due to the impact of Western sanctions, Russia has become more economically dependent on China. It is also noted that rising tensions in the Middle East could further strengthen Moscow-Beijing energy cooperation.
