A network deceiving the elderly with fake accident news - The ministry ISSUED A WARNING

Recently, an increase in fraud cases targeting elderly and solitary citizens has been observed. Unknown individuals present themselves as children, grandchildren, or close relatives and demand money from elderly people using fake excuses such as causing an accident or needing major surgery.

According to the information provided to Medianews.az by the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, suspicious individuals mainly call from foreign numbers and convey false information to citizens, insistently demanding the urgent transfer of various amounts of money.

In some cases, fraudsters specifically target elderly and solitary individuals by sending couriers to their residences to try to seize the funds in cash or online form.

To prevent such cases, citizens are advised to definitely verify the information given during incoming calls, not to send money believing unidentified persons or suspicious calls, and to immediately contact the "102" Call Center in case of encountering suspicious situations.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to be cautious and especially sensitive against such fraud attempts.
