The Russian regional government announced on Friday, July 10, that a state of emergency will be declared in Yakutia due to forest fires.
Medianews.az reports that the statement was made by the head of the republic, Aysen Nikolayev.
He noted that the prevailing hot weather conditions in the region exacerbate the forest fire situation.
According to him, temperatures in the center of Yakutia reach 35-36 degrees.
"At the same time, the expected temperature drop may be accompanied by strong winds and lightning, which could create additional risks for the outbreak of new fires and the spread of existing ones," Nikolayev warned.
