The increase of fake profiles on social networks causes serious concern. According to experts and users, the main aim of such accounts is to remain anonymous while spreading disinformation, writing insults, and comments with unethical content.
Medianews.az, citing Publika.az, reports that some citizens say that cases of unrestricted access to content not intended for children are also increasing. In their opinion, this situation brings up the need for stricter regulation of social media use.
Residents generally believe that restricting social networks might be more appropriate.
Regarding international experience, new rules are being discussed in Greece to prevent the use of fake profiles. According to the planned mechanism, each user will be allowed to open only one account linked to a real person.
On the topic, ICT specialist Asim Namazov stated that it is possible to apply certain regulations in this direction in Azerbaijan as well. According to him, the main issue here is to maintain a proper balance between security and the protection of personal data.
