The Romanian Football Federation has announced that it has parted ways with head coach Mircea Lucescu.
Medianews.az, citing Lent.az, reports that Razvan Burleanu, president of the Romanian Football Federation, expressed his gratitude to Lucescu and said: "Mr. Mircea Lucescu accepted this challenge and did his best for Romania. His passion and dedication earned him everyone's respect."
Burleanu also stated that Lucescu is planned to hold a different position within the federation. It was emphasized that the experienced coach's expertise will continue to be utilized.
Romania lost 1-0 to Turkey in the semifinal of the European playoff for the 2026 World Cup, losing the chance to participate in the tournament. This result also marked the end of Lucescu's tenure.
