The famous football statistics site "SofaScore" has deleted 6 of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo's 967 career goals.
The said adjustment occurred as a result of not counting the goals the footballer scored on the way to winning the championship in the 2023 Arab Clubs Champions Cup.
This happened because FIFA does not officially recognize the mentioned tournament. According to the "SofaScore" portal, this decision will somewhat extend the European champion's path to the 1000-goal target.
The tournament was the first title the Portuguese star won after joining the club. Ronaldo delivered an excellent performance in that tournament, scoring a total of 6 goals, including the 2:1 victory over "Al-Hilal" in the final.
On the eve of the final rounds of the Saudi Pro League (SPL), the former "Ballon d'Or" winner has focused on increasing his goal tally. He will also compete with the Portuguese national team at the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada./Offsideplus.az
