On May 6, the broadcasting of a distorted map of Azerbaijan on Russia's state channel "Channel One" during the program "Time Will Tell" ("Vremya pokajet"), which included the non-existent fictitious term "Nagorno-Karabakh" on the map, is a serious provocation and an unacceptable political manipulation.
Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Ayhan Hajiyev, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan, while responding to a question from the local media.
According to him, Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity have been fully restored, and this reality is recognized by the international community, including Russia:
"The dissemination on the Russian Federation’s own state television of outdated, falsified narratives that promote separatism, despite declarations by Russia affirming respect for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty which has never been questioned, is clearly contrary to the spirit of Azerbaijan-Russia relations, mutual respect, and friendly neighborhood relations. Irresponsible and biased approaches by state media resources are unacceptable, and an explanation from the other side regarding this matter is expected, as well as the taking of necessary measures to prevent such incidents from recurring."
