They held the train at the border for 9 hours: Because of the cigarette

More than 400 passengers on a train traveling from Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine to Chełm, Poland were stuck for nine hours at a border crossing point.

Publika.az reports that the delay was caused by an attempted smuggling of tobacco products.

According to a local Telegram channel, the incident occurred during border control at the Ukraine-Poland border. During inspection, approximately 150 cartons of cigarettes intended for smuggling were found in the ventilation holes of the train.

Preliminary information indicates that a conductor was involved in the illegal transport. After the violation was discovered, both he and the train conductor were dismissed. As a result, more than seven passenger carriages at the border were effectively blocked.

Witnesses report that the train remained immobile for about nine hours. Passengers attempted to clarify the matter through the hotline and official channels of Ukrainian Railways but received no response. They had to wait for the investigation at the border crossing point to conclude.
