“Qarabağ”’s Polish goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski received an offer from his country during the winter break.
AZERTAC reports that the 26-year-old goalkeeper stated this in an interview with the Polish press.
He even said that he agreed to the offer from the club “Widzew”: “I can confirm that there was an offer and I said ‘yes’ to the other side. As I said before, I am achieving good results in sports in Baku. I feel that I am developing myself and playing in the Champions League. This is a perfect place to succeed. But there is something that no one knows because I haven’t talked about it. When I return home after training or a match, I am alone. I am far from my loved ones. Football is very important for me, that is clear. But my family and loved ones have always been and will always be my priority. My fiancée is now with me more often, but when I return to Poland, I still have to deal with everything alone. This is hard for me. I hope people understand this. I am a family man, and this kind of separation affects me psychologically. That is why I had accepted the offer from “Widzew.”
Mateusz Kochalski said that “Qarabağ” did not allow this transfer: "Since the club's leadership did not agree, nothing was taken. It happened that the backup goalkeeper got injured and problems arose with registering a new goalkeeper. I am such an important player for the team that “Qarabağ” rejected “Widzew”’s offer. I understand this and no longer think about it. “Widzew” signed a contract with another goalkeeper and everything ended.”
The experienced goalkeeper also denied the rumors about receiving an offer from Germany’s “Borussia” (Dortmund) club: “There was no offer from “Borussia.” But I had read the news. 90 percent of the transfer information about me in the last few weeks is false.”
