Heart surgery can affect not only the body but also the state of mind.
Medianews.az reports that some patients say they do not recognize themselves after the surgery. Their relatives are also surprised by the changes.
Professor Chingiz Koksal, a specialist in Vascular Surgery, said that after surgery, calm people become aggressive, and aggressive ones become calm in nature. Among the reasons for these changes are sudden decisions for surgery, fear of death, heart massage, temporary stopping of the heart, and traumas such as waking up in an unfamiliar environment in intensive care.
The doctor emphasized that psychological and physical support after surgery is very important. Support from psychologists, physical rehabilitation, and dietitians accelerates patients’ recovery.
Also, modern surgical methods performed with small incisions or without stopping the heart provide not only medical but also psychological benefits. This approach improves the quality of life after surgery and facilitates patients' recovery.
