Simultaneous raids were conducted in Ankara, İzmir, Hatay, and Diyarbakır within the framework of an illegal betting operation based in Istanbul.
Medianews.az reports, citing “Haberler.com,” that as a result of the operation, 8 people were detained, and the assets of 3 companies and the “Diyarbekirspor” football club were seized.
During the investigations, it was determined that the club's former president and some officials were the owners of an illegal betting site.
Funds obtained through criminal means were laundered via various sports clubs.
According to the investigation materials, the revenues from betting activities were transferred to the club’s accounts through the bank accounts of the club’s accountant and some employees.
During the operation, 6 cars, 3 motorcycles, 7 apartments, 6 land plots, and 1 non-residential property were also confiscated.
Investigations into the matter continue.
