The late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was not against negotiations with the United States.
This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
"During the 12-day war, I served alongside the deceased leader, and he spoke about how negotiations should be conducted," said M. Pezeshkian.
According to him, Ali Khamenei emphasized that negotiations with the United States should take place: "However, now some are promoting the idea that negotiations are unnecessary."
Recall that on February 28, the United States and Israel commenced military operations against Iran, conducting air strikes on several cities. On that day, as a result of the strikes, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed. In response, Iran attacked Israeli territory and US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the United States, and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8. Trump later extended the ceasefire indefinitely.
The parties conducted talks in Pakistan to resolve the conflict, but the first round held on April 11-12 yielded no results.
