The unstable weather conditions and continuous rains observed over the country, especially in the Absheron Peninsula, for the past two days have caused an unpleasant incident in the city of Sumgait. The soil layer in the yard area of the Juma Mosque in the city has sharply collapsed.
Footage of this has been shared on social networks. It has been reported that as a result of the incident, a deep fissure formed in the mosque's yard, which has become a serious danger both for the building and the people in the area.
Initial assumptions suggest that the rainwater washed away the lower layers of the soil creating voids, and consequently, the surface could not withstand the weight and rolled down.
