About the assassination of Qasem Soleimani: It was the last thing we had to do.

"Killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was the last thing we should have done."

According to Medianews.az citing Telegraph, this was stated by Joe Kent, former director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center.

"Khamenei's presence somewhat restrained their nuclear program, preventing them from acquiring nuclear weapons. If you eliminate him, especially if you kill him aggressively, people will unite around the regime and the next ayatollah. I believe all current information indicates exactly that this is happening," he said.

It should be recalled that Joe Kent resigned on March 17 amid the U.S.-Iran conflict.
