Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov has begun considering his eldest son Akhmat as his successor.
“Qafqazinfo” reports that this claim was made by the publication “Novaya Gazeta - Europe.”
The reason for the publication's conclusion is that in the posts Ramzan Kadyrov made in March, it is not his younger son Adam who appears beside him as before, but Akhmat himself. Furthermore, it has also been noted that Adam, who was previously considered Kadyrov’s successor, appears less and less in the local media.
According to a source close to Kadyrov, the new heir Akhmat is reluctant to appear in public, but intellectually he surpasses his brothers.
“Akhmat plays excellent chess, has a very good memory, has received a decent education, and is the only one among Kadyrov’s sons who has finished school on his own merit,” the source told the publication.
It is reported that Adam’s loss of the future heir role is due to an accident caused by his motorcade in Grozny in January of this year.
It should be noted that 21-year-old Akhmat is the deputy head of the Chechen government, as well as the republic’s minister of physical culture and sports. 18-year-old Adam holds the title Hero of the Chechen Republic and also the order named after his grandfather Akhmat Kadyrov. In addition, he serves as secretary of the Chechen Security Council.
