Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran will not allow Washington to determine the "time of war and peace," because Trump claimed that the Islamic Republic demanded negotiations and that mediators were trying to restore the broken temporary agreement.
This was stated by Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Ismail Baqaei, at a weekly press briefing.
It was noted that Iran will not allow the US to decide when both countries go to war or peace.
He said that any decision regarding future negotiations will be based solely on Iran's national interests and that Tehran will continue to defend itself "for as long as necessary."
In a statement to Austria's ORF television, Baqaei admitted that Tehran and Washington are still exchanging messages, but said that the US military operations undermine the conditions for meaningful talks and emphasized the importance of protecting Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"We are conducting deep talks with Iran," he said. "If they fail, we will return to a large-scale military operation."
He said that mediators’ requests to give diplomacy another chance were answered positively, but that they would not allow talks to drag on indefinitely. Insisting that Iran has been "beaten" in the last two weeks, he added, "I have enough time." /BAKU.WS
