Currently, unofficial news about an increase in public transportation fares is spreading on the Azerbaijani segment of social networks and some websites.
Medianews.az has reviewed how public transportation fares have been in recent years.
Until August 2018, the fare on the metro and city bus routes was 20 qapiks.
During the following period, prices changed on the following dates and amounts.
From August 1, 2018:
1 ride on the metro 30 qapiks,
on city bus routes 30 qapiks,
on suburban and inter-village bus routes depending on distance 30-90 qapiks,
the upper limit of the fare on intercity bus routes is 2.4 qapiks per 1 kilometer.
From February 3, 2023:
1 ride on the metro 40 qapiks,
on city bus routes 40 qapiks,
on suburban and inter-village bus routes depending on distance from 40 qapiks to 1 manat,
the upper limit of the fare on intercity bus routes is 3 qapiks per 1 kilometer.
From July 1, 2024 (prices valid until today):
1 ride on the metro 50 qapiks,
on city bus routes 50 qapiks,
on suburban and inter-village bus routes depending on distance from 50 qapiks to 1 manat 10 qapiks,
the upper limit of the fare on intercity bus routes is 3.7 qapiks per 1 kilometer.
