More than 3,000 ships around Hormuz waiting for transition

Iran expects the safe passage of approximately 3,200 ships around the Strait of Hormuz between the US and Israel.

Medianews.az reports that this was stated by the Fox News channel.

According to the information, 800 of them are tankers and dry cargo ships. The number of sailors waiting for safe passage is close to 20,000.

US President Donald Trump announced on April 7 that he declared a two-week mutual ceasefire with Iran. According to him, the parties have resolved almost all contentious issues, and Washington is reviewing a 10-point proposal put forward by Tehran for future talks. The American leader noted that this decision was made against the background of Iran's readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz.

In Tehran, in turn, it was stated that if no strikes are made against the Islamic Republic, "defensive attacks" will be stopped. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is a mediator between the parties, invited them to talks in the city of Islamabad.

It should be noted that on February 28, the US and Israel began military operations against Iran. The strikes were carried out on the country's largest cities, including Tehran. The White House justified the attack with missile and nuclear threats originating from the Islamic Republic. As a result of the strikes on Iran, the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key figures of the leadership were killed. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared that it was conducting a large-scale retaliatory operation against Israel. At the same time, Iran targets US facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Syria with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

As a result of the conflict, the region's energy infrastructure and maritime transport have also come under serious risk. Due to the security tension around the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices on the world market have sharply increased.

On April 7, the US and Iran agreed on a temporary ceasefire of about two weeks to prevent military escalation and create opportunities for negotiations. According to information, the agreement was reached through Pakistan's mediation.//Trend
