Four people have been detained in the Julfa district of the East Azerbaijan province of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges of espionage for the United States and Israel.
Medianews.az reports that the news was published by Iran’s "Tasnim" agency. The news cites the district prosecutor Hossein Amani. Amani stated that one of the detainees is a local resident. He is alleged to have transmitted information to satellite channels operating abroad. It is emphasized that another person conducted informational activities through "illegal online platforms." The remaining two individuals are said to be foreign nationals who brought "Starlink" satellite equipment to Iran.
The prosecutor warned that cooperation with foreign intelligence services would have serious consequences and emphasized that there will be no leniency in crimes against national security and that those who violate the law will face severe punishments.
