A new phase has begun in the court proceedings related to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who is accused of child abuse and establishing a human trafficking network in the USA.
Medianews.az reports that the American financial giant Bank of America has reached a settlement regarding the class-action lawsuit filed by Epstein’s victims.
The lawsuit stated that the bank ignored suspicious activities while carrying out Epstein’s financial transactions, thereby indirectly facilitating the continuation of the exploitation network.
The details of the settlement and the amount of compensation to be paid have not yet been disclosed. Court approval is required for the agreement to take effect.
It should be noted that previously, several major banks have faced lawsuits related to financial transactions associated with Epstein. JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank have reached settlements worth millions of dollars with the victims.
Experts state that such cases create an important precedent for the financial sector regarding banks’ responsibility to monitor customer transactions.
