The qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are reaching the finish line.
Medianews.az reports that the final round contestants are from South America Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, from Oceania New Zealand, from Asia Japan, Iran, South Korea, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, from Africa Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cabo Verde, CAR, Ivory Coast, Senegal, from Europe England.
The championship with 48 national teams will include the USA, Canada, Mexico as hosts who have qualified. From the qualifiers, Europe has 16 tickets, Africa 9, Asia 8, South America 6, North and Central America 3, Oceania 1. The holders of 2 spots will be determined in additional matches among representatives from Africa, Asia, Oceania, South America, North and Central America.
In Europe, 54 UEFA members are divided into 12 groups. Group winners receive direct qualification to the final stage, runners-up and the four best teams of the Nations League compete for the remaining tickets. The Azerbaijan national team faced France, Ukraine, and Iceland in Group D. With two rounds remaining, France has 10, Ukraine 7, Iceland 4, and Azerbaijan 1 point.
