These foods lower cholesterol – Heart-healthy choices have been announced

Cardiovascular diseases remain one of the most common problems worldwide. In recent years, the occurrence of heart attacks and strokes at younger ages has also caused concern.

Medianews.az reports, citing Foodinfo.az, that a cardiologist stated it is possible to reduce cholesterol levels through proper nutrition.

According to the specialist, low levels of "bad" cholesterol in the blood significantly reduce the risk of serious diseases. To achieve this, natural and balanced products should be prioritized in the daily diet. Meals should be prepared with as little salt, fat, and ready-made sauces as possible.

The cardiologist particularly recommends grains – buckwheat, rice, and millet. Fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as fatty sea fish – mackerel, herring, and salmon – are also beneficial for the heart. These products help regulate lipid balance in the body.

In addition to the diet, unrefined vegetable oils (flaxseed, corn, pumpkin, and olive oil), various types of nuts, honey, mushrooms, and citrus fruits should also be included. These foods support cholesterol reduction and protect the blood vessels.

The specialist also emphasizes that proper nutrition alone is not enough. Regular physical activity – for example, light exercise or swimming – also has an important effect on normalizing cholesterol levels.
