"A number of laws have been adopted in Latvia that prohibit students from speaking languages other than the state language on school premises, even during non-class hours."
Regarding this, Aleksey Roslikov, a deputy of the Riga Duma, stated in an interview with "RIA Novosti".
According to him, Latvian politicians consider the Russian language as a language intended only for personal communication outside public places. In the deputy's opinion, the measures taken by the Latvian authorities are implicitly aimed at banning the use of the Russian language.
"A similar situation is envisaged for kindergartens as well," Roslikov added. / "Qafqazinfo"
