Special units have been established in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the ground forces for information warfare.
Medianews.az Reports, citing Publika.az, that soldiers will be engaged in issues of information security as well as combating the spread of false information.
It is noted that the number of personnel in the information division of the navy will be approximately 3,200 people. At the same time, a special department to combat disinformation on social networks will be established within the Japan National Intelligence Agency, which is planned to start operating soon.
Journalists wrote that the main task of the special department is to prevent attempts by foreign forces to influence public opinion in the country and to interfere with election results. The new intelligence division will be able to demand from internet providers both the deletion of individual messages and the blocking of accounts that may be used for disinformation.
