Ticket prices for the final game of the FIFA World Cup have risen to a record high.
Medianews.az reports that on FIFA's official sales platform, the price of some tickets put on sale for the final match has exceeded 2 million dollars.
According to the information, each of the four tickets is listed at approximately 2.3 million dollars.
The final game will be held on July 19 at "MetLife Stadium." These prices are considered the highest ticket amounts ever recorded in sports history.
It should be noted that although FIFA does not directly set the prices, the platform charges a 15 percent transaction fee from both the buyer and the seller for every sale made. This means that if a ticket is sold for 2.3 million dollars, the organization earns approximately 690 thousand dollars.
Other ticket prices on the platform also attract attention. Tickets for behind-the-goal sectors are offered at 207 thousand dollars, while upper stands are around 138 thousand dollars. Currently, the cheapest ticket for the final is priced at about 10,923 dollars.
It is reported that one of the main reasons for the price increase is FIFA’s cancellation of the price cap it applied in previous years for the 2026 tournament. The institution explained this decision by the free second market conditions in the USA and Canada.
Additionally, the transaction fees, which were 5 percent in the previous World Cup, have now been raised to 15 percent for both parties.
High prices are also observed in the semifinal and group stage games. Tickets for the semifinal to be held in Texas are offered at 11,130 dollars, while for the match in Atlanta, the price is about 9,660 dollars.
There is significant interest in some games during the group stage. For example, tickets for the USA-Turkey match to be held in Los Angeles range from 1,345 dollars to 2,970 dollars.//Qafqazinfo
