The terror threat level in the United Kingdom has been raised to "severe" following a stabbing incident in the Golders Green area north of London.
This level indicates a high likelihood of a terror attack. The decision was announced by the Joint Terror Analysis Centre. Although this body operates within MI5, the UK's domestic security and counter-intelligence service, it conducts threat assessments independently. It should be noted that previously the terror threat level was "substantial," which meant that an attack was possible.
