The Round of 16 pairings for the 23rd World Football Championship are being determined. Medianews.az reports that these pairings are known until July 3:
Canada – Morocco
Paraguay – France
Brazil – Norway
Mexico – England
Portugal – Spain
USA – Belgium.
The remaining two pairings will be finalized on the last two match days of the Round of 32 – July 3-4. The Swiss team awaits the winner of the Colombia – Ghana match, and the survivors of the Argentina – Cabo Verde and Australia – Egypt games will face each other.
In the 85 matches played so far in the championship, 249 goals have been scored. Of these, 12 are own goals.
Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Kylian Mbappe (France) have scored 6 goals each, Erling Haaland (Norway) and Harry Kane (England) 5 each, Usman Dembele (France), Vinicius Junior (Brazil), Ismaila Sarr (Senegal), and Mikel Oyarzabal (Spain) have scored 4 goals each.
13 players have scored 3 goals, 24 players 2 goals, and 112 players have scored 1 goal.
Since June 11, the championship, hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, has scheduled the Round of 16 for July 4-7, the quarterfinals for July 9-12, the semifinals for July 14-15, and the third-place match and final for July 19.
In the previous 22 championships, Brazil has won 5 times, Italy and Germany 4 times each, Argentina 3 times, Uruguay and France 2 times, and England and Spain once each.
