Barack Obama has submitted an application to participate in the US presidential election.

Barak Obama Shou, a candidate for the California governorship, has submitted a candidacy application to participate in the 2028 presidential election to be held in the United States.

This was reported by the "New York Post" newspaper.

Democrat Barak Obama Shou attracted attention during his election campaign in May for the California governorship due to the similarity of his name to that of the 44th president of the United States, Barak Obama. Although he was one of 61 candidates on the ballot, he was not able to win.

Shou had previously also been a candidate for mayor of Alameda, a city located in the San Francisco Bay Area. In that election, he received 16,522 votes, accounting for 0.2 percent of the total votes.

However, the failures in the mayoral and gubernatorial elections did not deter him. Shou has chosen the U.S. presidency as his next goal and has announced his decision to run for this office.

According to the newspaper, he was actually born under the name Cecil L. Shou III. However, inspired by former U.S. president Barak Obama in 2013, he officially changed his name. According to him, the new name is a symbol of hope.

"Obama made the impossible possible for people like me – he became the president of the United States," Shou said./Oxu.Az
