In recent days, information has been circulating among the public, especially the media community, that the current General Director of Public Television, Balakishi Gasimov, will step down from his position and will not be a candidate again. The lack of any statements on this matter until now has raised questions.
Medianews.az reports that Manset.az has received a statement from the current General Director of ITC, Balakishi Gasimov, on the issue.
In his statement, he clarified the issues regarding whether he would be a candidate again:
"God willing, I will make a decision on this matter this week. Most likely, I will be a candidate again."
In response to the journalist's "There are reports that you will be appointed chairman of AzTV. What can you say about this?" question, he stated:
"I do not want to comment on rumors, and I have not done so until now. This is a rumor, an unserious piece of information."
"So what innovations can be expected if you become a candidate and are elected?" Gasimov answered this question as follows:
"There will be innovations even after being elected."
It should be noted that information had circulated suggesting that Balakishi Gasimov would not be a candidate again, that he would be appointed chairman of AzTV, that AzTV Chairman Rovshan Mammadov would be assigned to a higher position, and that Vado Korovin, the former head of "Space" television, would be brought in as the General Director of Public Television.
