Azerbaijani lawyer Alakbar Garayev has been detained in Russia, and a 2-month pretrial detention measure has been chosen against him.
Russian law enforcement agencies detained Garayev along with two acquaintances in the city of Krasnoyarsk.
According to the information from the Russian Investigative Committee's Main Investigation Directorate for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia, Garayev was detained on suspicion of fraud.
He is suspected under Article 30, Part 3 and Article 159, Part 4 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted fraud committed by an organized group involving a particularly large amount). A court decision has already chosen a 2-month pretrial detention measure against the lawyer.
It is alleged that Alakbar Garayev and his acquaintances received a bribe from Vladimir Yegorov, president of the Sibiryak Construction Company (the largest construction company in Krasnoyarsk Territory).
Interestingly, Yegorov himself is currently under house arrest on charges of fraud. (APA)
