“Azerbaijan has surpassed Russia in gas supply via pipeline”. The head of the Oil Research Center, İlham Şaban, said this in an interview with Medianews.az.
İ. Şaban stated that Azerbaijan has been a world leader in supplying countries with pipeline gas: “This was said by the President of Azerbaijan İlham Əliyev during his speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
Currently, Azerbaijan exports natural gas via pipeline to 14 countries. Moreover, since the beginning of Azerbaijan’s gas export to Syria — from early August 2025 — our country has surpassed Russia in the number of countries supplied with gas via pipeline.”
It should be recalled that for decades Russia was the state supplying the highest number of countries with pipeline gas in the world. Currently, the number of countries to which Russia exports gas via pipeline is 13.
