According to official figures, demographic aging is taking place in Azerbaijan: between 1991 and 2024, the average age of women increased by 10.7 years, and the average age of men increased by 11 years.
Medianews.az reports that the State Statistics Committee's report showed that in 1991, the year independence was restored, the average age of women in the country was 25.5, and the average age of men was 22.8.
According to statistics, in 1995, the average age of women rose to 26.6, and the average age of men rose to 24.
In 2000, the average age of women was 26.3, and the average age of men was 24.7.
In 2005, the average age of women reached 28.5, and the average age of men reached 26.4.
In 2010, the average age for women was officially 30.3, and for men, it was 28.
Women ended the year 2015 with an average age of 32.1, men with 29.6; in 2020, women with 33.9, men with 31.8.
In the 2024 report, the average age of women is 36.2, and the average age of men is 33.8.
At the beginning of 2025, 28.2 percent of Azerbaijan’s population was under 19 years old, and 1.2 percent were aged 80 and above.
The ratio of people aged 70-79 to the total population was 4.1 percent, the ratio of those aged 60-69 was 10.3 percent, and for those aged 50-59 it was 11.4 percent.
The proportion of people aged 35-49 in the population was 23.1 percent, and the proportion of those aged 20-34 was 21.7 percent.
