The court process related to the traffic accident involving employees of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) in Fuzuli has concluded.
According to the information obtained by "Qafqazinfo", a verdict has been issued for 30-year-old Samir Gahramanov, who works as a department head at ANAMA’s Horadiz city base and caused the accident with a "BMW" vehicle. The court found him guilty under Article 263.2 of the Criminal Code.
It was noted that the incident occurred on December 9 last year near the village of Arayatli in the district at around 6:30 a.m. while ANAMA employees were on their way to work. Since S. Gahramanov fell asleep behind the wheel, the vehicle he was driving veered off the road and overturned. As a result, his colleague Mustafa Qasımov, born in 1990, died in hospital 6 days later from the injuries sustained.
Another staff member of the agency, Ramiz Beylerzade, born in 2000, and the driver were hospitalized with various bodily injuries at the Ganja City Central Clinic.
By the verdict of the Fuzuli District Court, Samir Gahramanov was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months of imprisonment and 22 months suspension of his driving rights. It was noted that the sentence is to be served in a penal colony.
