Scientists confirmed: This is the main food that makes us gain weight

Even if the total calorie intake of the diet does not change, some foods directly affect rapid weight gain. Japanese experts have determined that a high proportion of bread in daily nutrition significantly increases the risk of obesity.

Demokrat.az reports that researchers at Osaka City University have discovered that bread consumption causes an increase in body fat tissue. According to a study published in the "Molecular Nutrition & Food Research" journal, the main issue is not eating more, but the effect of food on metabolism. In experiments conducted on mice, diets enriched with bread, wheat, and rice flour were compared along with standard foods. It was found that despite consuming the same amount of calories, animals fed with flour-based products gained more weight.

Analyses showed that during the "bread diet," energy expenditure in the body decreases and the ingested substances are directly converted into reserve fat layers. Researchers state that this process occurs at the genetic level. Specifically, flour products activate genes responsible for converting carbohydrates into fat. When animals returned to a normal diet regimen, these negative changes reversed.

Scientists are currently cautious to claim that these results will have the exact same effect on humans. However, the obtained facts once again prove that the approach of "all calories are the same" is incorrect. Currently, experts continue to study the impact of different types of carbohydrates, especially whole grain products, on metabolism. Such research is expected to help develop more precise dietary recommendations in the future.

In other words, bread and flour products weaken energy burning in the body and, even if the calorie amount is low, create conditions for the body to accumulate fat.
