Scientists yawning for brain health explained the important role

New research shows that yawning is not only a sign of fatigue but also an important physiological process in the brain's self-regulation.

Medianews.az reports that according to studies, during yawning, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid increases. This helps in the removal of waste materials in the brain, maintaining chemical balance, and regulating pressure.

Observations have shown that yawning activates the movement of this fluid more strongly compared to normal breathing. Also, although yawning can be suppressed, the process is never completely stopped.

The research revealed that "contagious yawning" also affects brain function and that it is based not only on social but also biological foundations.

Scientists state that yawning may also help regulate brain temperature and improve blood circulation. These findings might create new opportunities for studying and treating neurological diseases, including migraines, in the future.
