Smart housewives do not throw away bank caps: REASON

Many of us throw damaged or old lids of pickles or jam jars directly into the trash after opening them.

Medianews.az, referring to Milli.Az, reports that these lids can be used as a natural and effective cleaning tool in the kitchen.

Old metal jar lids, especially, give safer and more efficient results than a knife when peeling root vegetables and vegetables with skins.

The edges of the metal lid (especially those that are recycled or have slightly sharp edges) allow peeling the skin of vegetables like potatoes, carrots, or squash in a very thin layer. This prevents wastage of the vitamin-rich part of the vegetable and speeds up the process.

Jar lids are among the best tools for cleaning fish scales. When rubbed from the tail to the head of the fish, the scales easily come off without scattering around.

The edge of the lid can be used like a spatula to scrape off dried, burnt food residues from the stove or cooktop without scratching the surface.

When preparing flour-based pastries, jar lids serve as cutting molds to give dough a perfect circular shape.

When moving heavy furniture, turned upside down lids can be placed under the legs to prevent flooring scratches (this also facilitates sliding).
