A case of cousin marriage has occurred in Azerbaijan.
Medianews.az reports, citing "Unikal," that in the village of Avshar in the Agjabadi district, the children of two sisters (maternal cousins) have married.
The wedding ceremony of the children of sisters named Vafa and Saadat took place on March 27.
According to the information, the married couple are the niece and nephew of Vagif Kazimov, the head of the Avshar municipality in the Agjabadi district.
The municipality head tried to conceal that the couple are close relatives, claiming that their parents are maternal cousins:
"The child is ill. I cannot speak right now, I am in mourning. Talk to them yourself."
