Scientists say that the glymphatic system, which is the brain's "waste clearance system," may be more active during sleep. This system clears harmful substances from the spaces between brain cells, including amyloid beta (Aβ) protein associated with Alzheimer's.

According to Publika.az, citing the "MedicalXpress" portal, studies show that the glymphatic system works more efficiently during sleep in mice. Experiments conducted on humans indicate that one night of sleep deprivation increases Aβ levels. Good sleep may help the brain clear these toxins more effectively.

After treatment, an increase in Aβ clearance in the brain has been observed. Sleep deprivation increases the risk of dementia, but the effect of treatment on toxin clearance is still not precisely known.
