Earthquakes recorded in Shamakhi have caused concern among the population. Although a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on the 10th and was felt, no damage was reported. Today, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3 took place, but the underground tremor was not felt. Citizens are worried that tremors may occur in Baku and the surrounding areas.
So, can such consecutive earthquakes be considered a precursor to stronger underground tremors?
Commenting on the issue to Milli.Az, the director general of the Republican Seismological Service Center, Gurban Yetirmishli, stated that the current situation is not alarming:
"Various numbers of underground tremors are recorded every day in Azerbaijan. Although some of these tremors are felt, there is generally no reason for fear. From last night until 9 a.m. today, 32 underground tremors occurred. None of them were felt. No strong, destructive earthquake is expected in the coming days."
