The State Financial Control Service of the Ministry of Finance conducts financial audits in institutions funded by the state budget, executive authorities and local structures, state enterprises and organizations.
Currently, financial audits are being carried out at the Azerbaijan State Agency of Motor Roads (AAYDA). It is reported that serious financial embezzlement has been discovered as a result of inspections that began in early April. There have even been claims in the press that this amount is close to 1 billion manats.
The inspection is expected to cover institutions funded by the state budget as well.
Medianews.az reports that according to the information obtained by Metbuat.az, Finance Minister Sahil Babayev is personally overseeing the process. Although the heads of the institutions being audited have tried to contact the minister, they have not been able to succeed. Sahil Babayev has declared ensuring objectivity and transparency during the audits as a priority. This has caused serious concern among some officials.
