The resignation of the President of Bangladesh is expected tomorrow.

Bangladesh President Shahabuddin Chuppu intends to resign on Friday, July 24.

This was reported by Medianews.az citing sources.

According to the information, 76-year-old Shahabuddin has already informed Prime Minister Tariq Rahman about the decision.

According to the country's constitution, he must now deliver the relevant statement to the Speaker of Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. However, Ahmed is receiving treatment in Thailand and is expected to return to Dhaka on Friday. The president's resignation will be officially announced at that time.

It should be noted that Shahabuddin was elected head of state in 2023 as the candidate of the former ruling "Awami League" party.

After the change of power in 2024, the "Awami League" was banned in the country.

In Bangladesh, the president is the head of state, but their powers are mostly ceremonial. Executive power belongs to the prime minister and the government. As a rule, the president acts on their advice and does not make independent political decisions.//report
