The film "A Simple Coincidence" by the southern Russian director Jafar Panahi will not be screened on the scheduled date.
According to Milli.Az, the Russian distributor explained the reason as the Ministry of Culture not granting permission, but the exact cause of the ban has not been disclosed. The screening of the film was planned for October 30.
It should be noted that "A Simple Coincidence" is Jafar Panahi's latest film, which criticizes the Iranian government and won the "Golden Palm" award in the "Best Film" category at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was made in Iran without official permission and features female actors without hijabs, and the Iranian government has included it in the list of banned works.
