The washing machine should not be cleaned with this famous agent.

Some people use a mixture of vinegar and baking soda to clean washing machines.

Demokrat.az reports that this method can damage household appliances.

A chemical engineer stated in an interview that the combined use of vinegar and baking soda damages the metal parts of the washing machine. The expert noted that baking soda alone is not strong enough to remove lime scale and soap residues. Vinegar, on the other hand, can clean odors and mineral deposits when used in large quantities.

Instead, the chemical engineer recommended using citric acid. According to him, citric acid is stronger than vinegar and more effectively dissolves oils, mineral deposits, and detergent residues.

The expert added that when used properly, citric acid does not harm the washing machine or its parts.

The chemical engineer also explained how to properly clean a washing machine:

* Add 4 tablespoons of citric acid powder to the drum;
* Then select the long wash program.

According to the expert, this method both cleans, disinfects, and removes unpleasant odors. He stated that the washing machine should be cleaned every 3-4 months.
