More than 120 people have died as a result of attacks carried out by militants of the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Pakistan.
Musavat.com reports that this information was released by the AFP agency citing official sources.
The report states that the militants attacked banks, prisons, and military facilities in the Balochistan province.
According to a statement from the Pakistan army, among the dead are at least 18 civilians, 15 security personnel, and 92 attackers. One official stated that during the clashes, the deputy district commissioner was kidnapped.
According to AFP, mobile internet has been cut off in the province for over 24 hours, transportation has been halted, and railway services have been completely stopped. After the explosions, the provincial capital Quetta has effectively been emptied.
"No one who leaves the house can be sure they will return safe and sound. There is always fear about whether you will come back," said a 39-year-old shop owner living in Quetta to AFP.
The Pakistan army announced on January 31 that it is conducting "clearing operations" in the areas attacked. The statement emphasized that "the organizers, perpetrators, and all those collaborating with this horrendous and cowardly attack will be held accountable."
On January 30, Pakistani authorities announced that 41 militants were killed during raids conducted in Balochistan. Official Islamabad claims that India supports the attackers. On January 31, Reuters reported, citing security sources, that over 80 people were killed as a result of the clashes.
