On June 6, as every year, a group of intellectuals headed to the memorial museum of the poet Mikayil Mushfiq located in the Sayadlar village of Khizi on the poet's commemoration day. Due to continuous rains, a flood in the Tikhchay river damaged not only the rooms of the museum, which is in a dilapidated and neglected state, but also its yard. In particular, the flood washed away the dam-bridge on the road leading to the museum, harming the yard and greenery as well. Visitors to the memorial museum managed, with difficulty, to visit the museum by crossing over a temporarily placed iron piece instead of the bridge.
Professor and musicologist Abbasqulu Najafzadeh spoke about this to Medianews.az.
He truly emphasized that the situation in the museum is deplorable:
“On Mikayil Mushfiq's memorial day, we set out to the memorial museum located in the Sayadlar village of Khizi. The bridge on the road to the museum was washed away by the flood. They placed a small piece of iron over the passage. That is full of holes. Women wearing high heels could not pass there at all. It was also difficult for elderly people with walking difficulties to pass. Because no one could hold their arm and help them cross. The iron dam could collapse. Visitors come and go frequently. Even if temporary, they should have fixed something. Crossing 2 meters is shameful.”
Abbasqulu Najafzadeh stated that the museum will be relocated to the city of Khizi:
“According to the information I have, the museum staff will be relocated to a building in the Khizi district. This house was taken off the balance sheet of the Ministry of Culture and given to the Ismayilzadeh family, descendants of Mushfiq. This house was originally established through the initiative of intellectuals such as Uncle Abulhasan, Jabir Novruz, Aliabbas Qadirov, and Amirkhuseyn Majidov. Mr. Abdulhasan prepared many things and the bust of Mikayil Mushfiq at his own expense. May God have mercy on each of them,” he said.
