The statue of Argentina national team forward Lionel Messi in the city of Mar del Plata has been destroyed.

The statue in front of a café in the city has been split into two.
Note that the statue depicted Messi in the Argentina national team jersey, holding the World Cup trophy in his hands. The sculpture was dedicated to the 2022 World Cup victory in Qatar.
Recall that this is the second attack on Messi's statue. The same incident occurred in 2024.
