Recently popular bubble tea has been considered dangerous for health. It has been revealed that the tapioca pearls added to this drink sometimes cause intestinal obstruction and choking.
Russian expert Yekaterina Titova spoke in an interview with one of the local "Telegram" channels.
According to her, consuming tapioca while talking or in a hurry may cause large, sticky pearls to enter the respiratory tract instead of the esophagus. This can result in asphyxia (choking - the most severe form of acute respiratory failure - editor).
The expert also warned that if these pearls are consumed excessively and sufficient water is not drunk, they can stick together forming a ball and cause intestinal obstruction.
Yekaterina Titova also does not recommend tapioca for children under five years old./oxu.az
