May was one of the coldest months of the year 56.

May 2026 in Turkey was recorded as the seventh coldest May in the last 56 years.

Medianews.az reports that according to the Temperature Analysis Report published by the Meteorology General Directorate, the average air temperature across the country in May was 15.7 degrees. This indicator was 1.4 degrees below the climate norm for May based on the 1991-2020 period.

The report states that temperature indicators were close to seasonal norms in most parts of the Marmara region, the Black Sea and Aegean coasts, as well as some eastern provinces. In other parts of the country, however, the temperature was generally recorded below normal.

According to meteorological observations, the lowest temperature in May was minus 2 degrees in Ardahan, and the highest temperature was 37.9 degrees in Ceylanpınar.

Regional indicators also revealed that temperatures were below long-term average indicators in most regions. Only in the Southeastern Anatolia region was an increase in the average temperature noted.

Experts believe that these results are one of the indicators of the unstable weather conditions observed during the spring season of 2026.//BAKU.WS
